Property Description

Situated in the Northumberland National Park in the pretty village of Harbottle, this is a great base from which to explore the surrounding area including The Cheviot Hills, National Trust’s Cragside, the heritage coast and many castles. The small village pub, castle ruins and river are a short walk from the cottage, and there are another two dog-friendly pubs in Alwinton, 1½ miles away, which serve food. Cycle routes ‘Pennine Cycleway’ and ‘Sandstone Way’ pass the front door, and the Drake Stone is visible from the garden, which is an enjoyable walk up from its forest base to a hidden lake. The traditional town of Rothbury is 15 minutes away with a wide range of amenities, and Alnwick, famous for its castle and gardens is 30 minutes away.

Karen Wilkinson

I was born and raised in Northumberland but left the area to live and work in Cambridgeshire for over 15 years. I have now returned to live in Northumberland, a county I am very proud to call home. I have recently set up Karen’s Kottages to share my enthusiasm of Northumberland and all that it offers by providing comfortable, well-equipped, self-catering cottages in great locations. I also have a high-spec VW California hire camper van which is ideal for exploring the area in. I have two cottages and a camper van up and running and starting to think about a third cottage!
